This Refund Policy (the “Policy”) explains how cancellations, refunds, billing disputes, and chargebacks are handled after you purchase a subscription for LinkGate (the “Service”).
Note: This Policy is part of the Terms of Service. If it conflicts with your mandatory consumer rights, applicable law prevails.
1. Who we are
- Operator: LinkGate is operated by an individual developer.
- Contact email: support@linkgate.cc
2. Payments and order entity (Paddle)
The Service uses Paddle to process payments, subscriptions, and settlement. Order/transaction records generated during checkout are typically stored by Paddle (as the Merchant of Record handling the order and payment). Your card/billing merchant descriptor may show Paddle or a Paddle-related description.
3. Subscription cancellation
- You can cancel your subscription at any time to stop future auto-renewals.
- After cancellation, you can usually continue to use the current paid billing period until it ends (as shown on the checkout/billing pages and in Paddle order details).
4. 14-day cancellation and refunds (aligned with Paddle Buyer Terms)
We use Paddle for checkout and payment collection. Under Paddle’s Buyer Terms, if you are a consumer and no exception applies, you have the right to cancel the contract and request a refund within 14 days of purchase (no reason required). The 14-day period starts on the day after the transaction is completed.
To meet the cancellation deadline, you only need to send Paddle a clear cancellation notice before the 14-day period expires.
Subscription note: For subscription services, the 14-day cancellation right typically applies only to the initial subscription purchase, and does not apply to each renewal.
Effect of cancellation and refund method
- If you validly cancel within 14 days, Paddle will refund the relevant amounts it has received.
- Paddle will process the refund without undue delay and typically no later than 14 days after it receives your cancellation notice.
- The refund will be made using your original payment method, and you usually will not incur additional fees (subject to Paddle rules and payment channels).
4.1 Scope
This 14-day cancellation and refund applies to:
- Consumers who purchase the Service for personal/non-business purposes; and
- Initial subscription purchases (excluding subsequent renewals).
4.2 Exceptions
In some cases, your 14-day cancellation right may not apply or may be considered waived (for example, where you expressly consent to immediate performance of the service/digital content and acknowledge the loss of the right of withdrawal, and you have started downloading/streaming or otherwise receiving the benefit of the service/digital content; subject to Paddle’s Buyer Terms and applicable law).
4.3 Refunds after 14 days or for non-consumer orders
Unless required by applicable law, after 14 days or for business/enterprise purchases, we generally do not provide automatic refunds. However, we may, at our discretion, offer refunds or other remedies (for example extending the subscription period or providing credits) in situations such as:
- Duplicate charges / obvious billing errors (for example being charged twice for the same period).
- Extended service unavailability that materially impacts you (based on objectively verifiable incidents).
- Reasonable signs of unauthorized payment (we may ask for supporting evidence and recommend you also contact your payment channel).
4.4 Common non-refundable cases (examples)
To the extent permitted by law, refunds are typically not provided for:
- Renewal charges due to failing to cancel in time.
- Access issues caused by your own network/device/browser settings, ad blockers, or third-party outages.
- Losses caused by third-party destination websites being unavailable, violating rules, or being suspended.
- Account/link restrictions, suspension, or termination due to your violation of the Terms or the AUP.
- Taxes, fees, or payment-channel costs already incurred (where applicable) may be non-refundable or deducted, in accordance with Paddle and payment-channel rules.
5. How to cancel and request a refund / billing review
5.1 Cancelling within 14 days (Consumers)
For the fastest handling, within 14 days please contact Paddle first to submit your cancellation/refund request (Paddle’s Buyer Terms require notifying Paddle of your decision to cancel):
- Paddle Checkout Buyer Terms: https://www.paddle.com/legal/checkout-buyer-terms
- Paddle Buyer Support: https://paddle.net
You may also email support@linkgate.cc. We will help you locate the order and assist where feasible.
5.2 Other refunds / billing issues
If you want to request a refund or report a billing issue, email support@linkgate.cc and include (where possible):
- Your account email.
- Paddle Order/Transaction ID (if available).
- Charge date, amount, currency, and a description of the issue.
- For duplicate/unauthorized charges, screenshots or bank statement details (redacted where appropriate).
We usually respond within a reasonable time and begin reviewing your request. If we need further verification with Paddle or payment channels, processing time may be longer.
6. Billing disputes and chargebacks
- If you dispute a charge, we recommend contacting us first at support@linkgate.cc to review it, and contacting Paddle first for order-related issues, to avoid unnecessary chargeback costs and potential account restrictions.
- If you initiate a chargeback/dispute with your card issuer or payment channel, Paddle will handle it according to its process and may request evidence; in some cases, Paddle may issue refunds.
- For malicious chargebacks, fraud, or abuse of dispute processes, we may restrict your account or refuse to continue providing the Service.
7. Consumer rights (EEA/UK and other regions)
If you are a consumer residing in the EEA/UK or other regions, you may have mandatory consumer rights under local laws. This Policy does not limit or exclude those rights.
8. Policy updates
We may update this Policy from time to time. For material changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you via in-product notice or email.
